FOR THE HIPSTER PARENT: THE NEGRONI Refreshing, classic and cool, the Negroni is a fab alternative to the Cosmo. My own twist on it is what I call the the Liquid Muse Nelsen Negroni, which incorporates a little freshly squeezed grapefruit juice. 1 ounce gin 1 ounce Campari 1 ounce grapefruit juice 1/2 ounce sweet vermouth Orange wheel Shake gin, Campari and grapefruit juice, with ice. Pour into an ice-filled rocks glass. Top with sweet vermouth. Garnish with orange wheel.

FOR THE PARTYING PARENT: THE OLD-FASHIONED The social set should go for a good ol’ whiskey drink like the Old-Fashioned. With the resurgence of classic cocktails in bars across the country, this is my version of a drink that is both sophisticated and packs enough of a wallop to get the party started! 2 ounces rye whiskey 2 dashes Angostura bitters 1/2 teaspoon powdered sugar 1 squeeze of lemon Stir all ingredients in an ice-filled rocks glass.

FOR THE PREPPY PARENT: THE BELLINI This year, the Bellini celebrates its 60th anniversary. First created in Venice, Italy, in honor of an Italian count, the Bellini is presented in a champagne flute. Elegant, refreshing and refined, it’s the perfect complement to summer dining al fresco or a warm-weather brunch. Izod not included. 1 ounce white peach puree A whisper of vermouth Prosecco (Italian sparkling wine) Pour the white peach puree into a champagne flute. Slowly add chilled Prosecco. Top with a few drops of sweet Italian vermouth.

FOR THE GREEN PARENTS: THE LIQUID MUSE “GREEN” AND WHITE SANGRIA Environmentalist parents would do well to whip up a pitcher of this eco- and taste-bud-friendly drink. It’s great to serve at a summer barbecue (organic fare only, of course) or a cocktail party—and it’s nice to know that you’re supporting sustainable farming in the process. 2 cups chopped organic, seasonal fruits (I use mango, kiwi, peach, plum and pear) 3/4 cup Square One Organic Vodka 1/4 cup organic raw brown simple syrup (see recipe below) Bonterra Organic Sauvignon Blanc Place chopped fruit in a glass bowl and douse with vodka and simple syrup. Marinate in refrigerator for several hours. When ready to serve, spoon two tablespoons of fruit mixture into a bowl-shaped wine glass. Then, fill halfway with Bonterra Sauvignon Blanc. Organic raw brown simple syrup: Two parts organic raw brown sugar to one part purified water. Bring to a boil, then simmer on low for three minutes, stirring constantly. Cool and refrigerate.
