Fear not, The Skin Deep Cosmetic Safety Database gives you the inside scoop on the most popular baby bath and body products. The site is published by the Environmental Working Group (EWG), a non-profit that works to protect public health and the environment via the dissemination of information. In November, they launched the Parent's Buying Guide (http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/special/parentsguide). This safety guide to children's personal care products is overwhelmingly startling, fascinating and a definite must-read. If you're in the market for some clean, green products, we love the TruKid line (www.trukid.com). It's all-natural, chemical-free and fun-to-use, teaching your little ones about hygiene and health. |
| I am seriously scared of giving birth. Help!—Laurie, State College, PA | |

I feel you, sister! I was so frightened of childbirth that I completely and totally ignored it until I was actually pushing. Not a smart move, though. My daughter's birth was not a good experience and it took me over a year to heal from the emotional scars. So, this time around I am going to prepare for it, try to enjoy it and deal with it—because I have to. My best piece of advice is to start doing creative—and positive—visualization. It's a powerful way to gear up your mind, body and soul for the big day. The act of childbirth is very paradoxical, as a woman must own it and completely release it, at the same time. You must start teaching yourself how to let go, be in the moment and, most importantly, trust yourself—because this is one experience you don’t want to regret. We did a fantastic article on childbirth that you should definitely read. Click here to get conquer the fear! |
