THE GIFT OF FASHION
CADEAU MATERNITY KEEPS  MAMAS-TO-BE IN STYLE FOR FALL AND BEYOND

Fashion for the pregnant set hasn't always been a treat. Mothers of yesteryear were forced to don frumpy, ill-fitting
moo-moo-type frocks for a good portion of their time with child. So not only were to-be moms dealing with surging
hormones, weight gain and all the other not-so-pleasant stuff that happens (insert: swelling, odd blemishes,
forgetfulness, aches and pains), but they were consigned to the land of no style for months on end.

Thank goodness for the democratization of fashion. It finally reached maternity wear in the late 90s, but was bench-
marked in 2002 by the trendsetting line, Cadeau Maternity. A company dedicated to keeping style in the lives of their
growing clients while giving them comfort and luxury at an affordable price, Cadeau is best present for the woman of
the present. Here Cadeau Maternity's owner and designer, Emilia Fabricant, gives THE FAMILY GROOVE tips on cool fall
fashions, how to dress to impress (yourself) and advice on maintaining your own sense of style while pregnant.
Emilia Fabricant
THE FAMILY GROOVE: How would you describe Cadeau Maternity?
Emilia Fabricant:  Cadeau is luxurious, fashion-forward, comfortable maternity wear for the modern woman.

TFG: What kind of women wear your line?
EF: A woman who refuses to part with her sense of style during the nine months of pregnancy.

TFG: What inspired your fall line?
EF: The luxurious fabrics that I found in Europe. I think there is a return to clean, modern luxury and the fabrics that I found were perfect for it. I was so excited to work with them.

TFG: What's your favorite look this fall?
EF: My leopard wrap jacket. It's lightweight and elegant. You can dress it up or dress it down. It looks great with a pair of jeans at the park or over a cocktail dress. I just love it!

TFG: How is pregnancy fashion different from regular fashion?
EF: It shouldn’t be. It should be just as exciting and design- conscientious as regular ready-to-wear—just with different specs.

TFG: What are three how-tos for maintaining your style while pregnant?
EF: 1. Be true to it. Don't start changing your style while you're pregnant—it's not the time. Stick to what works best for you. There are enough options
around today that you shouldn't have to conform.
EF: 2. Buy great basic pieces to help get you through the nine months and add in a few trend items to change things up a bit.
EF: 3. Accessorize. Accessories always fit and can make a great outfit look even better.

TFG: Any fashion advice for the mamas-to-be?
EF: Stay comfortable. High quality fabrics will look better, feel better and last longer.  You don’t want to have to go out when you're eight months pregnant and buy new clothing to be presentable. Buy things that are good quality early on and they will carry you through to the delivery room.

TFG: What are the trends to look out for?
EF: Faux fur, rich deep colors, luxurious tweeds and peg skirts with slim sweaters.

EMILIA SAYS:
Lepard Jacket Look 2 Look 5 Look 7 Look 17 Look 21 Look 26
This one is my favorite! This fabric is so comfortable and it's high quality will last you through the whole pregnancy and beyond. This is as close to the 80s trend as any pregnant woman should come. It's done tastefully and elegantly. Luxury tweeds for fall are key. This is a great coat that will get you through the season. Cool and comfortable. Peg skirts with slim sweaters are so in this fall.
